The Modern and Contemporary African and Middle Eastern Art department at Olympia Auctions, headed by Janet Rady, is pleased to present a forthcoming sale with a strong focus on Modern Egyptian art, alongside works by Modern and Contemporary artists from across the Middle East and Africa.
The auction brings together artists from Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Syria, Jordan, Morocco, Tunisia, Nigeria and Ghana, highlighting the breadth and diversity of artistic production across these regions. Featured artists include Rabab Nemr (Egyptian, 1939–2025), Ahmed Farid (Egyptian, b. 1950), Queen Farida of Egypt (Egyptian, 1921–1988), Farghali Abdel Hafiz (Egyptian, 1941–2023), Seif Wanly (Egyptian, 1906–1979), Rakan Dabdoub (Iraqi, 1941–2017) and Widad Al-Orfali (Iraqi, b. 1929). The sale also includes works by Ablade Glover (Ghanaian, b. 1934), Oluwole Omofemi (Nigerian, b. 1988), Imed Jemaiel (Tunisian, b. 1965) and Abdelkader Laaraj (Moroccan, b. 1950).
Many of the artists represented in the sale have established reputations within their own regions, while remaining less widely known in the UK market. The auction offers an opportunity to discover works shaped by a rich variety of cultures, histories and artistic traditions.
