The winged horse has long symbolized strength, protection, and good fortune across ancient cultures. In this work, its form is layered with cuneiform and Avestan script—ancient markings drawn from sacred expressions associated with energy, blessing, and protective power.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe! The composition also features sacred signs and symbolic figures, presenting a mythic, hidden world whose meanings invite the viewer to interpret and decode them. Throughout the piece, coded numerical sequences such as 11:11 and 777 reinforce themes of luck, abundance, and positive alignment.
Ultimately, the artwork opens a bridge between the modern world and the ancient world, allowing the symbolic energies and beliefs of the past to re-emerge and interact with contemporary human experience.
Pantea Mahrou is an Iranian contemporary artist whose practice explores fragmentation, memory, displacement, feminine experience and inherited political histories. Through layered material and spatial processes, her work examines visibility, erasure, silence and concealment, revealing how bodies, domestic spaces and emotional landscapes carry traces of trauma, migration, censorship and political transformation.
