Jordyn Fishman’s practice centres on figurative painting, using distortion and fragmentation to explore themes of identity, perception, and the body. Her works often present figures in ambiguous, psychologically charged spaces, where proportions are exaggerated and forms appear fluid, reflecting an interest in the instability of self-image.
In Seasaw Dreams (2022), the figure is rendered through a series of overlapping and disjointed body parts, creating a composition that oscillates between coherence and dislocation. The interplay of bold colour, simplified forms, and gestural mark-making introduces a sense of tension and playfulness, while the domestic setting anchors the scene in a familiar yet unsettled environment. Through this fragmented visual language, Fishman constructs a dynamic exploration of the body as both subject and site of transformation.
