Henrik Godsk’s practice is characterised by stylised figuration and a graphic use of colour and line, drawing on modernist portrait traditions while introducing a distinctly contemporary sensibility. His compositions often reduce the human figure to simplified forms, emphasising symmetry, pattern, and bold contrasts to construct psychologically resonant images.
In Mrs. V (2022), a centrally positioned figure is rendered through clean lines and a vivid, controlled palette, where geometric shapes and flattened colour fields define both body and space. The direct gaze and frontal composition evoke a sense of quiet intensity, while the stylisation of features lends the portrait an iconic, almost emblematic quality. Through this balance of abstraction and figuration, Godsk creates a work that reflects on identity as both constructed and performative.
