Aaron Fowler’s practice is defined by large-scale assemblages that extend painting into the realm of sculpture, incorporating found and personal objects to construct layered narratives of identity, memory, and lived experience. Working often on reclaimed materials such as doors, Fowler transforms everyday items—clothing, packaging, and domestic fragments—into expressive surfaces that carry both autobiographical and cultural significance.
In Friends (2015), a group of figures gathered around a table suggests an intimate, communal moment, while the dense accumulation of materials grounds the work in the textures of contemporary life. Through this fusion of figuration and assemblage, Fowler creates a visual language that reflects on community and belonging, embedding personal histories within a broader social context.
