LondonTo greet and to care, the tronqueira is a point of force where the power of Exus—who are part of the house and operate in dimensions of the encruzilhadas, to our left—is anchored and activated. This point of force functions like a lightning rod, a portal that prevents hostile forces from improperly appropriating or distorting the religious environment. It is a “house” of protection and communication.
The artist proposes a ceramic piece, an object that can be activated through smoke rituals, candles, flowers, and cachaça, serving as a site of care and protection. She employs contemporary symbols such as Lacoste or the figure of the clown in peripheral contexts, and calls upon tools of subversion through “malandragem.”
