This painting depicts the flight of Bedouins in Northern Iraq who were persecuted under the Saddam Hussein regime and are constantly on the move. (The artist’s family were from the north of the country). She connected with their fluidity.

Nadira Azzouz
Born in Mosul in 1927, Nadira Azzouz started painting from the age of six, later studying art at the School of Domestic Fine Arts in Baghdad (1944-49).
