February 1, 2019

We hope you had a relaxing and positive January, despite the weather! As the art world is picking up again after a restorative break, we have many exciting events to look forward to, including a wonderful talk at Asia House in London on Converging Paths—a series of events aimed at building bridges with the Islamic world on 12 February (click on the banner above for details).

Also featuring on the calendar is the next edition of 1-54 the contemporary African Art Fair, taking place in Marrakech from 23-24 February.

In Art Matters this month, we look at 3D printing and the imaginative uses it is being put to, as well as some of the questions it raises.

And for our Inspiration section, we take a nostalgic look at Egyptian movie posters and admire the woman making refugee tents environmentally sustainable.

Finally, we would like to thank everyone who so generously donated to the production costs of our newsletter last month (if you wish to donate this month, you will find the PayPal button at the bottom of the page). We truly appreciate these donations and the kind comments from our readers. Thank you!

With all best wishes from the team.

Janet Rady, Gallery Director and Curator
