MENASART-FAIR in Beirut: International success of the first edition

After a launch in 2010 as a "year zero", the first edition of MENASART- FAIR (Beirut - July 2011), achieved an international success!

MENASART-FAIR is the first fair focused on Modern and Contemporary Art of the ME.NA.SA regions (Middle East, North Africa, and South Asia). The 2011 event confirmed the intuition of the MENASART-FAIR’s protagonists:  to place Beirut as a nerve center of the art’s market of this vast geographical area.

Under the patronage of H.E. Mr.Gaby  Layoun, Minister of Culture, and the French Ambassador to Lebanon Mr. Denis Pietton, MENASART-FAIR opened its doors on July 12, in the presence of many diplomats, businessmen, collectors and art lovers in the region.

The 25 international galleries that participated in this first edition have highly appreciated the outstanding attendance at the fair and the fruitful contacts with collectors. Most of the galleries made many transactions and many promising agreements took place between participants and professionals from the art market.

With a total of more than 10, 000 visitors in just five days including the opening night, (60% Lebanese and 40% foreigners from Europe and the Middle East) purchases were numerous and days totalized a turnover that exceeded one million U.S. $.

The national, regional and international press, supported by wide internet coverage, echoed the success of this first edition of MENASART-FAIR through several hundreds of publications
